✈️ Air India Crash Pilots are getting support

Mumbai – After the crash of Air India flight 171, while on one hand the preliminary report highlighted some technical aspects, on the other hand the Indian Commercial Pilots’ Association (ICPA) has given a strong reaction on the rumours against the pilots. The association has appealed to the media and the public to stop the speculation and not vilify the pilots without any solid evidence.
😔 What happened on June 12?
On June 12, Air India flight 171 going from Ahmedabad to London-Gatwick crashed immediately after take-off. 270 people were killed in this accident, including 19 people on the ground. This accident is being seen as a major tragedy in aviation history.
📃 What did the Preliminary Report say?
On Saturday, the Aircraft Accident Investigation Bureau (AAIB) released a preliminary report. According to the report, the fuel supply to the aircraft’s engines was cut off just 3 seconds after take-off. The Boeing 787’s fuel switches moved from “Run” to “Cut-off” position, causing both engines to shut down.
In the cockpit voice recorder, one pilot asks the other – “Why did you cut off?” The other pilot replies – “I did not.”
This conversation became the basis of speculation and some aviation experts claimed in the media that the pilot may have knowingly cut off the fuel.
🚫 ICPA’s Strong Statement
Indian Commercial Pilots’ Association has described this speculation as “reckless and insensitive”. ICPA said:
“Raising a serious allegation like pilot suicide without any verified evidence is not only unprofessional but also deeply hurtful – not just for those pilots, but also for their families.”
ICPA said that pilots undergo extensive psychological screening, recurrent training, and strict safety standards. Therefore, it is wrong to accuse them of such a mistake without any final conclusion.
⚙️ Possibility of Mechanical Fault
Another important thing was highlighted in the AAIB report – In 2018, the US aviation regulator issued a bulletin, which mentioned the possibility of a mechanical fault in the fuel control switches. This fault could have cut off the fuel supply without pilot input. But Air India did not carry out that inspection as it was not mandatory.
This angle shows that the cause of the crash could not only be human error, but also technical malfunction.
🕊️ Appeal to Media: Respect Due Process
ICPA has appealed to media and public commentators:
“Investigation is still going on. Until the final report comes, one should stay away from speculation. Responsible journalism means empathy, patience and reporting with facts.”
🔍 Conclusion
The most important thing in this entire tragedy is truth and justice. Until the official investigation does not conclude, speculation against Air India crash pilots only spreads confusion and negativity. ICPA’s stance is a reminder that every professional, especially pilots, should get dignity and fairness.
This is just bad news happening in 2025 or else something like this which no one else did and one more thing this plane crash was also of Air India, what is happening with Air India planes and why. Now I do not know what else is left to see in 2025, there is still half a year left.
