Pahalgam Terror Attack: Top Security Meeting called at PM Modi’s residence, India’s strong reply to the martyrdom of 26
New Delhi:
After the terror attack in Pahalgam, Jammu & Kashmir, in which 26 people lost their lives, there is an atmosphere of anger and sadness in the country. Immediately after this incident, Prime Minister Narendra Modi called a very important meeting, in which all the senior members of the Cabinet Committee on Security (CCS) were present. This meeting was held at PM Modi’s Delhi residence, where major decisions related to the security of the country were taken.

Who all were present in the meeting?
Union Home Minister Amit Shah, who was in Srinagar a few hours before the attack, immediately returned to Delhi and joined the meeting. Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, National Security Advisor Ajit Doval, and External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar were also part of the meeting. NSA Doval gave the ground report to PM Modi and told about the current situation in detail.
What happened in Pahalgam?
Yesterday evening, some terrorists suddenly opened fire in Baisaran, a famous tourist spot in Kashmir. They first asked some tourists about their religion and then shot them in the head. This attack was not only planned but was also executed in a very brutal manner. The dead include people from 14 states and 2 foreign nationals.
26 people died, shock in the country
This attack was the biggest and most horrific after the 2019 Pulwama attack in Kashmir valley. The manner in which common tourists were targeted has shaken the whole country. The families of the martyrs are in a state of grief and people across the country are expressing their anger on social media.

What was said in the meeting?
It was decided in the meeting that India is ready to respond to this attack. Defence Minister Rajnath Singh said, “The government will take whatever necessary and appropriate steps are required. We will not only find out those who were directly involved in this incident, but will also catch those who are sitting behind the curtain and making such nefarious plans.”
Strong message from PM Modi
PM Modi left his Saudi Arabia tour midway and immediately came back to Delhi and called for a meeting. Last night he wrote on Twitter (first):
“Those who are behind this incident will not be spared. Their evil intentions will never succeed. India’s fight against terrorism is at an end.”

Who took the responsibility?
The responsibility for this attack has been taken by “The Resistance Front” (TRF), which is believed to be a proxy group of Pakistan-based Lashkar-e-Taiba. TRF has issued a statement taking responsibility for this brutal attack, which is being analyzed by intelligence agencies.
Sympathy on Pakistan
Although the government did not directly name Pakistan, the signals are clear. Even before the Pulwama and Uri attacks, India had targeted Pakistan’s terror camps by carrying out surgical strikes and air strikes. External Affairs Minister Jaishankar also said, “If you do something here, whether you are across the LoC or across the international boundary, we will go there and give a reply.”
Security beefed up on the ground
After this attack, security is on high alert in entire Kashmir. A fierce encounter has been going on in Kulgam since last night, where the army has surrounded some terrorists. Presence and surveillance of forces has been increased in Pulwama, Anantnag and Srinagar as well.
Hundreds Detained For Probe
Security forces have taken immediate action and detained more than 100 people who may have links with this incident. Locals are also being questioned and suspects are being identified.
Public and Political Reaction
Leaders across the country have condemned this incident. The opposition has also talked about standing with the government. But questions are being raised about the intelligence failure in some places. But the mood of the people is very clear – “India should give a befitting reply.”
Even after this incident, some tourists have expressed their trust in the people of Kashmir. A couple said, “We do not blame the people here, we trust the Kashmiris and are not going back.” On the other hand, many tourists and families are now cancelling their Kashmir visit due to fear.
A Hindu man’s life was saved by an Islamic verse
Another emotional story also came to light in which a Hindu man, when he saw a gun pointed at him, remembered an Islamic verse and recited it. His life was saved. This story has touched people’s hearts and has become an example of religious harmony.
What will happen next?
It is clear from the tough stance of PM Modi and CCS that India is not going to sit quiet now. Just like the surgical strike and air strike happened earlier, the same step can be taken once again. India has proved that we will bear the pain, but will never bow down in front of terrorism.
