VinFast VF7 India-spec Spotted Ahead of Festive Launch – Features, Battery, and More
Vietnam’s popular EV company VinFast is all set to enter India, and the proof of this is the VinFast VF7 India-spec model that was recently spotted on a flatbed near Mumbai airport. This spotting happened when the company is planning a launch around the festive season.

VinFast first showcased its VF7 model at the Auto Expo 2025, where this electric SUV grabbed a lot of attention from the people. Now that the VinFast VF7 India-spec model has been spotted testing on the roads, it has been confirmed that the company is close to the India launch.
Jet Black Finish and New Alloy Wheels
The spied vehicle was in Jet Black colour – one of the four options that VinFast lists on its website (the other colours are: Brahminy White, Crimson Red, and Neptune Grey). The model that was seen at the Auto Expo had 20-inch alloy wheels and low profile Goodyear Eagle F1 tyres. But the VinFast VF7 India-spec model comes with newly designed 19-inch alloys and 245/50 R19 Apollo Aspire tyres – a move that has been made keeping in mind better comfort and durability for Indian road conditions.
Battery, Range and Powertrain Options
The VinFast VF7 India-spec model comes with the same 75.3kWh (net) battery pack that is offered in the international variants. The company plans to launch two trims – Eco and Plus – as follows:
- Eco variant: Front-mounted single motor, 204hp and 310Nm torque. WLTP range approx 450km.
- Plus variant: Dual-motor setup with AWD, combined power 354hp and 500Nm torque. Range is a little less – approx 431km.
These specs pit it against competitors like BYD Atto 3. BYD is currently available in India in the range of ₹24.99 lakh to ₹33.99 lakh. But due to VinFast having a local assembly plant in Tamil Nadu, expected pricing could be between ₹20 lakh to ₹30 lakh.
Features and Technology

Spy shots also reveal that the VinFast VF7 India-spec will have a lot of advanced features. A camera has been spotted on the wing mirror, which could be part of a 360-degree camera setup. A large infotainment touchscreen has also been glimpsed, but it is not confirmed if this is the screen of the 12.9-inch Eco trim or the 15-inch Plus variant.
Standard features include Level 2 ADAS suite, OTA updates, and smart connectivity – which should become quite attractive points for Indian EV buyers.
Battery Leasing Option?
Another interesting thing is that VinFast is also considering battery leasing option i.e. Battery-as-a-Service (BaaS) model in India – like MG Motor India did. This model can reduce the initial cost of the car, which can be quite helpful for middle-class buyers.
Conclusion
VinFast VF7 India-spec SUV spotted testing in India clearly shows that the Vietnamese company is serious about its India expansion. With a jet black finish, practical tyre choice and solid specs, this car is going to give tough competition to rivals like BYD Atto 3 and Mahindra XUV.e9. Now all eyes are on the festive season – when the official launch and pricing of this promising EV will be revealed.
